Landscaping

Here are a stack of photos of our landscaping. We rushed to have it completed before Winter as the thought of having to deal with a muddy yard and a hyperactive dog just stresses me out. I'll preface this post by saying you're not about to see anything fancy, the job was basically to level the land, lay turf, a garden bed with mulch and some outdoor tiles. Our long term landscaping goals will be more ambitious but there is no rush as we will most likely try to DIY most of it over the next 5 years.
The landscaper we used was BKR Landscapes, they're a duo based in Hampton Park and finished the job in a week and were reasonably priced too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. :)
Outdoor area outside of kitchen window |
Side Yard Extra soil was required to level off area |
Steel Retaining Wall Posts are in and will separate turf from garden bed |
MANHOLE SURPRISE. We came across a manhole so a change in plans meant we had to build a retaining wall around this. Not ideal but what can you do. |
Filled with Top Soil |
And More Soil |
And More Soil |
Ended up needing 1 whole truck worth of soil to fill in the land |
Palmetto Buffalo Turf |
We've loaded up on sprinklers and hoses Our water bill should be interesting |
Rear of alfresco. I want to deck right out to the back fence here but I'm told I need council approval? |
Mmmm nice and level. |
Love our ornamental pear trees So classic We're planning to plant english boxes along the garden edge |
Yes . This is as fancy as we got |

DeleteHi Chi, Have absolutely loved all your post's very helpful. We have fallen in love with the Charlton 33 put down our deposit. We are also completing kdrb in SE Suburbs. I am currently getting Demolition quotes. Would you be able to recommend the company you used ? great appreciated.

Hi Shane
DeleteWe used dig dig demolition. We found them to be pretty good but keep in mind they don't cover any damages they make to your crossover.
Hi Chi,
ReplyDeleteWow !! I simply love the colour of your aggregate. Good landscaping and concrete around the house.
You mentioned using 1300 driveways. We are thinking of using them too. I wonder how much you pay per m2 for the aggregate to the front and aggregate to the back ?
We're also building with Hebel. I wonder if you mind dropping a few comment about Hebel ? Does it live up to its promise in terms of energy saving and insulation ability ? Any things we need to be aware for Hebel ?
Thanks so much for your help in advance?
Regards
Zzj
Hi Zzj
DeleteSorry for the delayed reply. From memory the aggregate was about $90 or $95 sqm.
In terms of Hebel, I've yet to really feel the benefits yet. I mean its hard to compare. But I can say that our house remains noticeably cooler during the warmer months (particularly downstairs) so the insulation appears to be great but then again my previous house was timber weatherboard so anything would have been an improvement for me. :)
Sorry I'm not much help here.
Awesome tips for seeding in buffalo lawns. We lay our turf over the old one and later we realized it was a big mistake. So we buy whole high-quality buffalo turf in Gold Coast and installed which looks better with proper care. Here I got great tips to seeding lawn. Thanks for sharing.
