FIXING STAGE - FINAL PHOTOS & FIRST FURNITURE PURCHASE!

Friday, November 06, 2015

Apologies for the delayed post but there hasn't been a whole lot to update you all on. Our latest visit to the site was over cup weekend and it looks like there's been a bit of a slow period with trades taking the extra long weekend. Whilst its been slow there has been activity on the garage and grand alfresco and door locks going on the external doors.

Is that a footprint I see?

staircase update

After taking measurements of our staircase I can confirm that our staircase is in fact narrower than the one on display at Wollert despite having the exact same floorplan configuration. There is a difference of 40mm which is huge and does make a difference to how the staircase looks (in my opinion) I have raised this with the site supervisor who will query this with the stair manufacturer. My preferred outcome would be to have the bottom flight of stairs remeasured and replaced. Let's see.

in other news...

I think we have decided on some couches for our living room. Plush have this buy one get one free sale and I have been eyeing this sofa called the Zara. Buying a sofa can be a bit like ordering a salad, 1. Pick your sofa  2. Choose leather or fabric  3. Pick your colour.  So here's my sofa salad mix:  Zara in Fabric in colour Chic Orson Silver. We will be getting the 4 and 3 seater. Total cost $3499

It's not the best looking or cheapest sofa out there but the kicker for me was that Plush offer this 5 year insurance policy called Plush Shield which covers you for permanent staining from stains and accidents such as rips/tears cuts etc which I think is a must when you have a kids and a dog. Cost for 5 years $483

Looks like we'll be putting a deposit on this weekend . Lead time is about 7-9 weeks which isnt an issue for us in fact we'll be asking for a early - mid Jan delivery based on our build time.

Disclaimer: I don't work or am affiliated to Plush in anyway!

...whats next?

We are in the process of finalising our selections for our carpet and floorboards, I should have an update for you all next week on what we have chosen! Will also be posting our first update of the paint work in the house.

....till next time

  4. We're in the process of finalising the building contract with PD for the same house. Looking at your kitchen photos I've noticed that where the fridge goes you haven't got a wall cavity. Did you decide against it or are they going to build it at a later stage, assuming it's part of the standard building contract that is.

    1. Hi Carole, I wanted an appliance tower next to the fridge which negated the need for a wall cavity. This was an upgrade. Hope that helps
